Discover Downham Heritage & Learning Centre
At the edge of the Fens and on the banks of the river Ouse Downham Market is one of Norfolk’s oldest market towns. Dating back to Saxon times it was once a thriving hub of agricultural industry. The town today has many fine historic buildings, independent shops and weekly markets.
Discover Downham Heritage is run by Downham Market and District Heritage Society. With interactive displays, information and exhibits the center shows how Downham’s local trades, communities and location helped shape it and how we can still see these stories from the past today.
The center has a children’s corner and research facilities open to the public.
Light refreshments are available and there is a small shop area.
